WidgetBucks and Adsense - are they really all that different?

VS

Anyone who's seen the hype of WidgetBucks knows that they are advertising a relaxed, stylish, non-aggressive (and of course profitable!) alternative to AdSense. For those who do not know, AdSense is known for deleting and suspending accounts for ridiculous reasons - often when the user is approaching the payout ($100). With little to no effort, someone can clickbomb your website resulting in near immediate account closure.

So is WidgetBucks really all that different from the infamous AdSense? From what i've seen on forums and associated blogs, I believe it's fair to say that least a couple hundred users have already been banned, some losing hundreds of dollars. While it's certainly possible that some of those people may have clicked a couple of their own ads, such high numbers this early in the game worries me. Click the below image to see what many users have been waking up to see:

Many people have contested their bans by posting on the official WidgetBucks blog, however that usually resulted in a drone-type response, or the person's comment deleted. Controversy anyone?

  • Unfortunately we do not allow negative publicity of our program or trademark infringement, so we're suspending your WidgetBucks account with immediate effect.

Thank you for participating in WidgetBucks.

  • Which is honestly not surprising - I just wanted to give an opposing viewpoint, again this site was not meant negatively, only to post my opinions and the un-biased news :)

  • Widgetbucks is awful. The changes in my rpc are ridiculous. It'll say 10 seconds during the day, and then cuts it down to nothing at the end. I got 14 clicks one day, and got 2 cents a click. Thanks widgetbucks!

  • This company will close your account when you earn something. No communication at all, all they gonna do is to collect and sell your SSN. I already reported them as a identity stealer, because they're collecting information from you and selling to others.

  • I think your choice of a domain name is unfortunite, since it sounds like you hate them before people read anything on your site.

They may not be too bad, but I am disturbed that they posed on your site and say they are suspending you. Because of that I have pulled their ads from 8 of my sites and will drop them all as soon as I can pull the code.

I went through a lot of crap like this with Chitika (Shitika) and I will NOT go through it again with another company.

If they cannot respond professionally to criticizem, then I don't want any part of what they offer.

I hope you will continut to report on them in a factual manner and provide links to back up what you say about them.

  • You say AdSense bans you when you're approching $100? How about when I had gone over $1000 and they suspended me, when I was completely innocent.

And then WidgetBucks also suspended my account, because I was displaying my ads through AdBrite (Which their FAQ states is completely acceptable). After a good few emails trying to determine the reason of my suspension, my account was reactivated.

If only AdSense would do the same. I have no idea how or why I was banned, the reason provided was "Invalid Clicks" (Presumably from click-bombing).

  • Oh guys, this widgetbucks is a pure scam.
I have been with them 2 months, today jan 30, when the time came to pay me, they suspended my account without pay, saying that each click must likely lead to a purchase from the ad your visitors clicking on at your site-otherwise it is a fraud.
My friend’s account was suspended too-same reason, and many others.
So my 1500 bucks are gone, i am sick and tired of these scammers like widgetbucks, so want more info-send me an email I will explain you their game.
In short ,this guys will get their money for my visitors’ clicks, but when time comes to pay publisher-they suspend the account and save his money too.
A pay per click rate is 3-6 dollars from the merchant, they promise 10-40 cents per click to the publisher, they do not pay you for the first 2 months/so that you do not understand the game, then they suspend your account and -ALL MONEY I THEIR POCKET.
WHY THEY DO NOT SUSPEND YOU AFTER 1 MONTH THEN?
    UNDERSTAND NOW?
Good luck-if you find something else-let me know
    Eddie
